The Junior League of McAllen, Inc.

MEMBERSHIP and LEADERSHIP

     The Junior League of McAllen is composed of Provisional Members (first year members engaged in an extensive training course), Active Members, and Sustaining Members (members who have completed at least five years of service and continue to support the organization).  Together, members who volunteer in the community log more than 3,000 hours of service each year.  81% of Provisional and Active Members work outside of the home; 84% of Provisional and Active Members are also raising children at home.  The average age of the Provisional Member is 31; the average age of the Active Member is 34.

Community Advisory Board

     The Junior League of McAllen Community Advisory Board is selected by the President and Officers with the approval of the Board of Directors.  Its purpose is to assist the league with evaluating programs, long range planning, developing a network of expertise, and strengthening public relations.  The members serve as a sounding board of community opinions concerning league operations and community needs.
